Scott Mescudi aka Kid Cudi. Some know him as the guy who wrote day n nite (and maybe all 500 + remixes of it) but only a few can really say that they know who he really is. My first experience with his music was of course listening to day n nite, one of his first mainstream hits. The first thing that came to mind was "wow this is definitely not a song, it sounds more like poetry to me" mainly because all of Kid Cudi's songs are based off of the hardships he had gone through in life, all of which I learned about from his first album "Man on the Moon." As you guys already know, I have an obsession with the moon and just by the title of his album, I was drawn to Cudi and his music. Listening to MOTM (Man on the Moon) I realized that Kid Cudi had a little thing for the moon as well, that just added on to my love for his music, because I mean, being able to share something with an artist is amazing since they can put your feelings into the words of a song, which is what he did for me.
Well, enough about me, lets get to business...
About 2 weeks ago, Complex Magazine held a cover story on Kid Cudi, and how his musical career has evolved over the years. I read the article, of course loving every detail of it because he never fails to give his fans every bit of emotion and energy that he is feeling at the moment. But one thing in this interview stood out to me...
"My biggest fear is getting wrapped up in the illusion of fame and Hollywood and shit like that. Getting wrapped up in the worldly things like drugs and the excitement of being famous. I have a vulnerable enough past that it could propel me into that world. I don’t want to be caught up in it. I want to do something while I’m here. This is hell. All the shit that’s going on around us, this is hell."
What’s hell about it?
Kid Cudi: Just turn on the fucking news.
He speaks about his "vulnerable past", and his fear of being "wrapped up in the illusion of fame" mainly because of his hardships in life. For a small town kid, growing up without a father (whom he lost to cancer), and living most of his life in his own world he grew used to things like drugs as his getaway, a place he can get lost in for a while, so everything is numbed out. This is where the Man on the Moon figure comes in. For Cudi, the moon is a metaphor, its an escape route, a place he can be himself without being judged; His place of peace. He refers to Earth as hell in his interview because there's a constant battle between everyone and everything, however, on the moon is where he is Kid Cudi. That is the story he is trying to tell his fans, the story of his life through metaphors, experiences and his adventures.
BUT! that's just a tiny bit of what the interview was really about, if you're interested check out what else he had to say by clicking on the link below :

**Be on the look out for MOTM 2, in store on November 9 :] and make sure you buy his first album, support the movement of the Man on the Moon <3**
I'll be up up and away, up up and away, cause they gon' judge me anyway, so whatever.
- Up up & Away, Kid Cudi.

What do you think about his recent album being leaked and his response to his album being leaked on his blog?
I think that it sucks because when you work hard to put something like that together and all the fans are hyped about it, & some one leaks it, it kinda disappoints you. I'd be angry about it but I have yet to hear any of the songs that leaked. I'm waiting til the album comes out so I can buy it bc its not fair to CuDi.
He on the other hand didn't seem like he was phased by it, on his blog kidcudi.com he posted a video of M.C. Hammers "It's All Good" and wrote "thanx hammer time! now, enjoy the weekend everyone and remember, ITS ALL G.O.O.D. :) peace and love" I'm assuming he knows that he can't do anything about it and he's hoping his real fans go buy the album like originally planned.
